The Thomas C Wales Memorial Foundation was established to promote the ideals and activities that Tom represented and pursued outside of his role in the campaign for gun safety. These include fairer justice, rational discourse and community involvement. The Foundation is led by members of Tom's family, his friends and colleagues, with help from civic and professional leaders.

Washington Ceasefire
Washington Ceasefire is a grass-roots organization formed in 1983 to reduce gun violence in Washington State through education, legislation and electoral politics. Among other accomplishments, Washington Ceasefire successfully lobbied to pass legislation banning firearms in schools and public buildings in Washington State and also led a fight to defeat a bill that would have gutted the state's concealed pistol law. Tom served as board president of Washington Ceasefire from 1995-2001.

Americans for Gun Safety
Americans for Gun Safety is a non-partisan, not-for-profit, advocacy organization that supports the rights of individuals who own firearms and seeks stronger new laws and tougher enforcement of current laws to reduce gun violence. Washington Ceasefire continues to work in partnership with Americans for Gun Safety to pass sensible gun control legislation at the federal level as well as in Washington State.

Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence
Named in honor of Jim Brady, who was wounded in the assassination attempt of President Reagan, the Brady Campaign is the Nation's largest grass-roots organization fighting for sensible gun safety legislation. Washington Ceasefire continues to work in partnership with the Brady Campaign to pass sensible gun safety legislation at the federal level as well as in Washington State.
